The ending to the movie The Matrix

The Matrix is all around you, right? Well, it really is — it is a computer-controlled simulation that houses humans’ minds while their sleeping bodies are used to harvest bioelectricity as a power source for intelligent machines the humans had created years before.

The twist occurs halfway through the movie, which ends with Neo learning to control the Matrix and setting up a bunch more movies with enormous battles between machines and people. Of course, the machines could have just let the humans sleep and didn't need to allow them to 'exist' but whatever...
