The ending of Vertigo

OK, so Vertigo is pretty convoluted. Here’s the really short version: the woman Scottie is following and falling for is not his friend’s wife Madeleine but Judy, who is impersonating her in a murder plot. Faking a mental illness, she appears to commit suicide in a fall from a tower but really doesn’t. The body that’s found is Madeleine’s, thrown there by her husband, and Scottie’s friend, sending Scottie mad. He later sees Judy, who has fallen for him, and thinks she’s Madeleine.
It all leads to a confrontation at the top of the tower, where she admits everything. And that’s the short version.
