A teenage girl has been taken to hospital after a water incident at Geelong Aquatic Centre.
Ambulance Victoria confirmed paramedics were called to an incident in Newtown about 10.40am on Tuesday.
Advanced life support and mobile intensive care ambulance paramedics assessed and treated the girl at the scene.
“One female patient in her teens was transported by road ambulance to University Hospital Geelong,” the spokeswoman said.
A Barwon Health spokesman confirmed the teen remained in hospital in a stable condition just after 2pm.
Geelong Aquatic Centre owner Debbie Gill said she understood the girl experienced a panic attack upon entering the water.
“Fortunately our staff are trained and knew what to do in that situation, with paramedics called straight away,” she added.
The popular aquatic centre is located on Bridge St in Newtown and offers swimming lessons to people of all ages, from infants to adults.
