A national swing to the Labor Party has been felt most emphatically in Tasmania, with the party snatching two electorates from the Liberals and turn Lyons from an ultra-marginal to safe seat.

It is the strongest performance by the party in the state since the 2010 election, with four of the five state House of Representatives seats going to Labor.
