As scores of other music festivals across the state pull the plug, Tasmania’s largest music and camping festival, Party in the Paddock, is returning in 2025 with a bang.

The three-day festival, which takes place annually at Quercus Park, Carrick, released its 2025 line-up for eager fans awaiting to buy tickets.

Next year’s headline acts include Australian electronic music duo Empire of the Sun and Norwegian singer-songwriter AURORA, as well as a yet-to-be-named ‘secret headliner’.

Also on the bill are Amyl & The Sniffers, King Stingray, Angie McMahon, Slowly Slowly, Role Model, The Rubens, American Still Woozy, Thelma Plum, and Allday.

The line-up unveiling comes just days after Vibestown festival and artistic director Jesse Higgs announced that HAYDAYS would not go ahead in 2024.

“At the moment, Australian music festivals are in a really difficult place; I mean, we all are,” he said.

“The cost-of-living crisis here in Australia is a real thing. Honestly, it’s touch and go for us as well, to be completely transparent.

“We’re really digging deep and taking quite a bit of financial risk to go ahead this year just because of how expensive things are for us.”

Mona Foma, one of Tasmania’s largest contemporary music and arts festivals, came to an end after 16 years in April, while the national festival Groovin the Moo followed this year, citing poor ticket sales as the reason behind the call.

Despite the difficult economic conditions, Mr Higgs said there was much to look forward to at the paddock, including an immersive experience with art installations, comedy, artist interviews, live podcasts, drag performances, cabaret, mechanical bull ride competitions, skate ramp, meditation and yoga sessions and more.

“We’d really doing our best to make sure that Tasmanians don’t miss out on seeing international talent and the best-emerging artists in our country each year,” he said.

“It’s something we take a lot of pride in, and also just bringing the community together. It’s not just the music; it’s the art, the people, and all that the festival brings to northern Tasmania.”
