Paper creations takes centre stage at charity fashion show
Paper creations by Tasmanian artist Stephanie Reynolds are set to hit the runway by storm, modelled by House of Dance dancers at a charity fashion event.

Labelling her work “paper couture”, Tasmanian artist Stephanie Reynolds has teamed up with the House of Dance for a night of fashion in support of children’s education charity BCC Africa.
Her intricate paper designs will be exhibited in Hobart on May 3 to raise funds for the work of the Bethlehem Community Centre in Kenya.
The centre supports children aged 4 to 18 affected by poverty, HIV/AIDS, or conflict, providing a safe home and access to education.
BCC Africa founder and chair Christine Bennett first visited Kenya in 2008 and will be making her seventh and final trip in July before she retires.
Describing herself as a “pseudo-grandmother” to more than 30 children, Ms Bennett said the program has grown since her first visit.
“When I first went there very few kids went to high school, now we have an alumni and we’re currently supporting about 17 through education and over 20 have graduated high school,” Ms Bennett said.
“There are kids I will be meeting up with on this visit who I first met in 2008. They’re now nurses and engineers, plumbers and some girls who have done cosmetology,
“When we go, we spend our time with the kids and do activities with them and just let them know that someone on the other side of the world cares about them.”
Modelling the paper creations are dancers from Hobart’s House of Dance who said they were “proud” to be a part of the show.
Taking place at the Hobart North Uniting Church on Swan St, tickets cost $55 per person.
Ms Bennett described the event as “art meets fashion meets paper” and is excited to have Tasmanian creatives rallying together in support of a cause close to her heart.
“It will be an excellent opportunity for people to see these amazing artworks by Stephanie and support a really good cause,” Ms Bennett said.
