A 24-year-old Bagdad man accused of using social media to groom and later abuse two underage girls, has pleaded guilty to multiple counts of indecent assault and sexual intercourse with a young person in the Hobart Supreme Court.
Bradley Graham Paul Cate appeared before Acting Justice Shane Marshall on Monday, where he faced six charges relating to offences allegedly committed at two locations in southern Tasmanian between July 2022 and January 2023.
The Mercury has previously reported on court documents alleging Cate groomed his victims through the photo sharing application Snapchat over a number of months.
Court documents allege that Cate groomed three teenage girls through photo sharing application Snapchat on dates spanning July 1, 2022 to January 15, 2023.
On Monday, Cate replied “guilty, your Honour” to each of the six charges against him.
Following the pleas, prosecutors indicated they did oppose a continuation of Cate’s bail.
Acting Justice Marshall bailed the defendant to reappear for sentencing submissions on Monday, 3 February next year.
