A MAYOR on perjury and corruption charges, a sacked chief executive and a factionalised council have put Logan’s business community and ratepayers on tenterhooks.
State Government reforms and amendments to the Local Government Act have been perceived as a step in the right direction for local councils such as Logan, which is a growing, thriving community.
Logan has so much to offer, which is why Albert & Logan News is throwing a spotlight on the city’s assets in a series called Future Logan.
The true value of its assets was recognised when Logan was earmarked as one of the state’s burgeoning residential areas with state government priority development areas mapped out.
The series will include in-depth interviews with experts on our population boom; on the city’s innovation and IT hub; what the city will offer our children and, of course, vital infrastructure projects.
It is the perfect time for the city to sing its own praises and give our business success stories a profile as there are many important projects already under way in the city such as social housing renewal and building vital transport infrastructure.
Despite recent negative images, Logan has always striven to achieve many goals including carving a name as an innovation and IT hub and a bustling southside metropolis.
The city has its own university, hospital and is a major logistics hub for many national and international companies.
But its true asset value lies in its residents and community spirit, which we hope to champion through this series.
