A little girl and her family are coming to terms with the loss of a beloved young father who died in a car crash in Cockatoo Valley in February.

Lyndoch man Tyson Snashall, 36, has been remembered as a “ball of energy” and a loving father to his 11-year-old daughter Lily after he passed away when his car struck a tree on February 13.

His former partner Julie Renae told The Advertiser he was a “ball of energy” and loved their daughter to bits.

“We always called him Tigger because he was always bouncing off the walls, he just had such a fun side to him,” Julie said.

“Lily has many fond memories of her dad. They used to stargaze together and build motorbikes and work on engines together.

“He loved Lily more than anything on this planet. He was always taking her to do the coolest things, he got her excited about life.

“He always treated her as a little princess no matter how old she got.”

Police and emergency services were called to the crash at about 1.30pm on February 13 on Williamstown Rd in Cockatoo Valley after reports of the incident.

The crash closed Williamstown Rd in Cockatoo Valley for several hours as investigations got under way including into the identity of the driver.

Julie said she and Tyson, who worked as a steel fixer, grew up together and remained “friends until the end”, but Tyson had been struggling with his mental health.

“I just wish people could be more awake to life and how short it can be, because we always thought we would have more time, more chances, but we didn’t get that,” she said.

“We lost him and it was a huge shock to us all.”

Julie hopes that by sharing his story, she can encourage others to seek help when they’re in a dark space.

“I really need people to know that there is a whole other side of life where you can be happy if you can just break through that black cloud that comes down on us and gives us tunnel vision.”

In a post to her Facebook page, Julie said she hopes Tyson is out of pain and at peace now.

“May you be healthy and happy on the other side,” she wrote.

“Lily loves you so much, she misses you so much. She longs for one last hug from you.

“Shine bright for us up there tonight, we will be looking for you.”
