Young cricket fans everywhere are putting on their game face with all eyes on Adelaide for Australia’s second test with India.
Ten-year -old avid fan Callum Smith has a lot to look forward to at today’s match, including catching a glimpse of his favourite cricketer Travis Head, sporting the infamous green and gold and Australia getting India out or getting a good lead.
A childhood musing from his father, Nick, has found life in his son who dreams of one day swinging the bat to a ball himself.
“I want to be a cricket player when I grow up, because it would be fun to go around the world playing cricket.”
11-year old Sheryar Khan also shares his love for cricket with his father, Adnan Imtiaz, who coaches their team at Glenunga Cricket Club.
However, they seem to butt heads over who they support, with Sheryar a voracious supporter of Australia and his father on the opposition — a rivalry that makes for fun family discourse in their household.
Sheryar has big dreams of donning the cricket helmet some day, with hopes one day playing at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
“I love playing cricket,” Sheryar said.
“I’m a pace bowler. But I also love batting, like cover drives and creating my own shots.”
