A promising Adelaide Crows forward is being monitored for concussion after being involved in a car crash, less than a week he suffered one in a SANFL match.

The Crows today announced that Ned McHenry had reported concussion symptoms after being involved in a car crash following training yesterday.

McHenry, taken by the Crows with pick 16 in last year’s AFL Draft, suffered a concussion in Adelaide’s 14.16 (100) to 10.17 (77) SANFL win over the Woodville-West Torrens Eagles last week.

But he had quickly recovered from the knock and was medically cleared to play against South Adelaide today.

Crows Science and Medical Services Co-ordinator Steve Saunders told the club’s website the decision was made to not play McHenry against the Panthers after reporting neck and concussion symptoms following the crash.

“Unfortunately, Ned was rear-ended in a motor vehicle accident on the way home after completing a session where he trained very well,” he said.

“This is obviously disappointing given how well he had recovered. Ned is not available to play this weekend and will continue to be monitored closely by the medical team.”
