Work has started on a new $80 million Catholic school in Two Wells which will grow to accommodate more than 1000 students.
The first of a five stage project, a $9.87 million investment, will cater for Reception to Year 6 with future stages to expand to Year 12.
The school will be a second campus for Xavier College which is 23km away at Gawler Belt.
“The school will be the 111th Catholic school campus in South Australia,” Catholic Education SA director Neil McGoran said.
“Xavier College has a very strong reputation in the local community and this new school will enable us to work in partnership with families from Two Wells and the surrounding areas to provide their children with an excellent Catholic education.”
The building contract has been awarded to Mossop Construction. Edge Architects are overseeing design.
The Meaney Rd site is part of the Liberty Estate property development by Hickinbotham Group subsidiary Land Australia. The site was donated by the Sharpe family who have a connection to Two Wells over many generations.
Xavier College acting principal Mark Flaherty said it was an exciting moment for his school to be able to extend “authentic, affordable Catholic education in the area”.
“We look forward to meeting our new families as we grow within our new local community,” he said.
