A woman who was caught on CCTV bizarrely stealing – then returning – a safety bollard from a Port Wakefield roadhouse claims it was just a prank.

Footage posted to Facebook by 24 Seven Cafe on Port Wakefield Highway shows a woman lift a safety bollard from the ground and carry it to a waiting car.

She then enters the store, smiling and giggling as she sips from a travel mug.

But the roadhouse’s management was not so amused.

In their post, they wrote: “Our bollards are not for sale”.

“If anyone knows this person please ask them to return the stolen bollard.”

And they didn’t have to search far to find her.

Commenting on the roadhouse’s post, a woman wrote: “It was a joke oops”.

“Will return when u (sic) take down this post.”

While the footage remains visible, it appears the woman had a change of heart.

Footage shared by 7NEWS Adelaide shows a woman returning the bollard – then waving and giving a bow before directing a two-handed gesture to the store’s security cameras.

And it appears the show isn’t over yet.

The woman has continued to lash out on her personal Facebook page.

“Wow a joke gone so wrong,” she wrote on Sunday.

On Monday she continued: “The news again come on go find some real s**t.”

The woman and 24 Seven Cafe have both been contacted for comment.
