Woman taken to hospital after being injured on ride at Royal Adelaide Show
A woman with suspected spinal injuries had a pre-existing medical condition before she became stuck on a popular Royal Adelaide Show ride, Safework SA says.
A woman with suspected spinal injuries had a pre-existing medical condition before she became stuck on a popular Royal Adelaide Show ride, Safework SA says.
Emergency services were called to the No Limit aerial spinning ride about 5.40pm on Wednesday, taking nearly an hour to free the woman.
The 21-year-old suffered suspected spinal injuries and remains at Royal Adelaide Hosptial in stable condition.
A SafeWork SA spokesperson said mechanical malfunction had been ruled out.
“Safework SA and the Royal Adelaide Show responded and found the injury relates to a pre-existing medical condition rather than a mechanical issue relating to the ride,” they said.
“The mechanical aspect of the ride was not related to the woman’s injury and Safework SA is satisfied that the incident is not a safety related issue.”
An SA Ambulance spokesman said the woman was injured while on the ride near the Wayville site’s north fence.
The ride was operating again shortly after the incident.
