Police are reminding domestic violence victims to seek help during the SA lockdown after a man was stabbed in an alleged domestic assault at at Lightsview this morning.

A woman has been arrested after allegedly stabbing a man in the back in a serious domestic assault at Lightsview.

Paramedics and police rushed to the home about 4am Saturday after the reports the man had been stabbed.

The victim was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

A woman, 22, was arrested and charged with aggravated committing assault causing harm, and is expected to appear in court at a later date.

The alleged domestic assault has prompted a reminder from police to anyone experiencing domestic violence during lockdown, to seek assistance at anytime.

“The current stay at home order includes the provisions to leave the home in an emergency and to flee domestic violence,” a police spokesperson said.

“Police encourage anyone experiencing domestic violence to contact them immediately for assistance.”

It comes as a community call out for greater vigilance of domestic and family violence is being made by the state government as South Australia enters day four of a planned seven-day lockdown.

Anyone who is a victim of sexual, domestic and family violence, are being reminded there is around-the-clock support available.

Human Services Minister Michelle Lensink said all critical domestic violence (DV) services were continuing and that anyone experiencing violence at home, or feeling threatened or unsafe could access help if needed.

“Even though we’re asking the community to stay at home during this seven-day lockdown, women and their families should know that if they are experiencing violence or abuse at home, they can leave, if they believe it is safe to do so,” she said.

She said crisis, short-term motel accommodation was available to any South Australian fleeing DV in their home.

Assistant domestic and family violence prevention Minister Carolyn Power said: “Now, more than ever, we really urge the public to remain vigilant and if you see or hear anything out of the ordinary, report it.”
