A woman allegedly caught driving on meth with a child in the back seat of the car has been arrested after she indecently assaulted a police officer.
Police stopped a car on Port Elliot Road about 7.30am Saturday after it was seen driving on the wrong side of the road. Officers said they noticed she had an unrestrained child in the back seat.
The driver, a 25-year-old Port Elliot woman, allegedly returned a positive drug test for methamphetamine.
The woman also allegedly refused to provide her name and details to police, who arrested her. She then allegedly indecently assaulted one of the police officers.
The woman was charged with a string of offences, including driving in a manner dangerous to the public, driving under the influence, not providing her name and address, not restraining a child, indecently assaulting an officer and resisting arrest.
She also received an on the spot fine, and was referred to a drug diversion program after police found her in possession of drug related equipment and cannabis.
Her car was defected, impounded, and she was directed not to drive.
She will appear in the Victor Harbor Magistrates Court at a later date.
