Woman about to hand in drivers licence crashes into car, home at Plympton Park

A woman who mistook the accelerator for the brakes before smashing into a house says she was going to give up her driver’s licence within weeks.

A 69-year-old driver who said she was planning to hand in her driver’s licence next month has crashed into a house at Plympton Park.

Jennifer Baker said she was on the way to the shops before she mistook the accelerator for the brake, crashing into a car, then a house on Ferry Avenue.

“I couldn’t control the car properly, so that’s what happened I smashed into the other car going the other way, and yeah, it’s a write off,” Ms Baker told 7NEWS.

Two MFS firetrucks and eight firefighters attended the scene. The SES and police also attended.

No injuries were reported.
