A woman has died and two others are in hospital following a crash in the state’s South East this morning.
Just after 7.30am, police and emergency crews were called to the intersection of Princes Highway and Southern Ports Highway at Kingston SE after a Toyota sedan crashed into a creek.
Police said the car was travelling west along Princes Highway, drove through the junction of Southern Ports Highway, entered a reserve then crashed into the nearby Maria Creek.
The rear passenger, a 51-year-old woman from the South East, died at the scene.
The driver, a 53-year-old woman, and front passenger, a 21-year-old woman, who are both also from the South East, were taken to Kingston Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
They have since been transferred to the Mount Gambier Hospital.
The woman’s death is the 55th on South Australian roads this year, compared to 48 at the same time last year.
