The TikTok following of an embattled local councillor who sent an inappropriate message to a teenager has been uncovered, including more young women.

The TikTok following of a Burnside Councillor has been exposed after he was embroiled in a social media scandal involving an inapropriate message he sent to teenage girl’s Instagram account.

It comes after Julian Carbone refused to stand down from his position in local government despite calls for his resignation at a council meeting.

Julian Carbone’s TikTok, labelled @votejulian was active until Wednesday morning and described himself as an elected member of the Burnside City Council, with 55 followers.

An investigation by The Advertiser unveiled multiple questionable accounts Cr Carbone was following, including a certified sexologist and multiple accounts claiming to be run by teenagers.

Other accounts of the 96 he followed included a dancer who claimed to be aged 19, and a fitness page which posts numerous videos featuring a woman posing in bikinis.

Another woman he followed had the account name “whosyourmumma75”, and posts videos dancing in lingerie.

The TikTok account was deleted within minutes of Cr Carbone being contacted by The Advertiser to address his following on the platform.

He said the reasons for him deleting his account were similar to why he deleted his Instagram – due to it having been “overrun by fake profiles”.

Cr Carbone’s TikTok account featured 47 videos both containing council and family related content.

The TikTok development comes after The Advertiser yesterday revealed Cr Carbone’s Instagram account was following multiple female accounts who claimed to be teenagers.

He has since deleted his Instagram, saying it had been “overrun and riddled with fake profiles, all of which I had nothing to do with”.

“I’ve made the conscious decision to remove my account”, he said on Facebook on Tuesday evening.

Cr Carbone was subject to an investigation over a complaint made by a 17-year-old girl who said he had messaged her inappropriately on Instagram in November last year.

It is alleged his account, juliancarboneburnsidecouncil, messaged the girl: “lots of bikini photos – but it’s so damn cold at the moment hey”.

At a Burnside Council meeting on Tuesday discussing the investigation which cost rate payers more than $11,000, Cr Henry Davis demanded his colleague resign.

“I condemn Cr Carbone’s behaviour and while we cannot ask him to resign, I feel strongly that he should resign,” he said.

Councillor Jane Davey endorsed Cr Davis’ comments and added Cr Carbone is a threat to the council’s reputation.

Cr Mike Daws challenged Cr Davis and Cr Davey saying he is hopeful the incident would be a one time occurrence and Cr Carbone knows what he did was wrong.

Cr Carbone declined to resign on Wednesday,

“I think that’s (calls to resign are) a little bit of a stretch, it was sent by mistake (the message),” Mr Carbone told ABC Radio Adelaide.

“I’ve been doing a lot of great things in the community, I’ve been a very passionate, very active advocate for my residents.

“I’d like to think that the residents will remember me for all the great things that I’ve done over the last term.”
