An Athol Park supermarket owner has been left shaken after being violently attacked by alleged shoplifters in his own store.
Westwood IGA owner Jay Jiang said he tried to stop a pair of shoplifters when they attacked him.
“I tried to stop them and chase them out and they started attacking me,” Mr Jiang told 7NEWS.
Footage of the incident shows a shirtless man and a woman throwing objects at staff and pinning Mr Jiang, who has owned the store for about six years, against a wall and on the ground.

“Don’t f*** with us,” the woman can be heard yelling in the video.
The footage also shows the man swinging at another staff member in the store.
“F*** off,” he yells at the staff member.
Mr Jiang was taken to hospital with back pain and forced to take a week off work.
“No workers deserves to go to work and be treated in such an appalling way,” Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees’ Association secretary Josh Peak said.
The incident reportedly occurred about a month ago but no arrests had been made, with Mr Jiang hopeful the footage of the pair would lead to charges.
“I think that Australia is not safe anymore,” Mr Jiang said.
