THE famous and much-loved West End Brewery Christmas display has been forced to close early after being smashed by a flooding river Torrens.
The gingerbread house, the cow that jumped over the moon and some of Snow White’s dwarfs havegone missing from the corner of Port Rd and Adams St after heavy rains and strong winds swept across the state.
The display had been due to run until Sunday.
A brewery spokesman warned the public not to retrieve items from their Christmas display that had washed down the river.
People should instead contact the brewery, which would get authorities to remove it safely.
“The display will not operate again this year as damage is too extensive,” he said.
Humpty Dumpty is reportedly in pieces, several bonbons were damaged, and the flood light had disappeared.
“The good news is Moby Dick is still anchored down,” he said.
The whale famously broke free in flooding in 2005 and continued down the Torrens.
