A bushfire Advice message has replaced a Watch and Act notification for a blaze at Glenburnie, near Mt Gambier.
The threat of the fire has been reduced, and residents are no longer being told to leave their homes, according to the CFS.
The fire on Fairbanks Rd and Miles Rd, only 10km from the centre of Mt Gambier, was burning south westerly towards Glenelg Hwy.
Smoke is reducing visibility on the road, and there is a risk of falling trees or branches.
Two sheds were destroyed and nobody was injured, the CFS says.
It comes shortly after another bushfire was successfully contained at Mt Gambier, on Australia Day.
About 50ha of scrub and vegetation was destroyed in the fire that sparked near the Centenary Tower about 2.30am on January 25.
