The body found in a lagoon near the River Murray over a week ago has been identified as a 72-year-old man from Waikerie.
About 2.15pm on December 11, police and emergency services attended an area off of Taylorville Rd, at Taylorville, after a member of the public reported seeing a body in the water.
Police, with the assistance of the Country Fire Service and State Emergency Service personnel, located the body of a man in Ross Lagoon.
With nobody coming forward to identify the man, authorities searched the water for clues in the days after the discovery.
The police water operations unit appeared to dredge up several items including clothing from the scene.
The man’s identity had remained a mystery for 11 days.
Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Police Minister Joe Szakacs said he cannot give any more information on the issue as it is an ongoing police investigation.
“Police are investing essential resources into this investigation, as with any others,” he said.
