An interactive 3D virtual reality experience will help South Australians to contribute to a landmark new holistic transport strategy.
The new blueprint, which has been driven by significant changes including population growth and increased vehicle congestion, will guide the future of the state’s transport network over the next 30 years.
It will focus on improving statewide connectivity and access to essential services.
A series of sessions will be held across the state where the public can participate in a virtual reality experience, before ranking a series of transport priorities from most to least important.
Based on their answers, an on-the-spot personalised virtual reality animation will be generated to help the user visualise what a city, suburban, regional or industrial area could look like.
A series of images have also been released to get people thinking about possibilities for future city, suburban, regional and industrial transport options.
The strategy is expected to be completed in 2025.
Infrastructure and Transport Minister Tom Koutsantonis said an efficient, well-planned transport system is critical to South Australia maintaining its mantle as one of the best places to live and do business.
“We want as many South Australians as possible help to shape this strategy, so that future transport projects are in line with community, business and industry expectations,” he said.
