Virgin Voyages will be sailing an adults-only trip to KI on NYE 2024

It will be quite the party when Virgin Voyages’ Resilient Lady sails from Adelaide to KI on New Year’s Eve in 2024.

Sir Richard Branson calls for more berths in Sydney for his Virgin Voyages cruise liner

New Year’s Eve revellers in 2024 can enjoy an adults-only Virgin celebration with Virgin Voyages’ second season in Australia to include the December 31, 2024 party sailing between Adelaide and Kangaroo Island.

The seven night voyage priced from $4436 for an inside cabin for two people departs Melbourne on December 29, 2024 and sails to Adelaide, Kangaroo Island, Hobart and finishes in Melbourne, with three sea days.

The New Year’s Ahoy trip is one of two voyages where the line’s Resilient Lady ship will call at SA ports next year.

The price for the New Year’s Eve trip which includes sailing from Adelaide to KI is “priced from $$4436 for an inside cabin for two people.”

The price for the Perth-Melbourne trip calling at Adelaide should be “priced from $3790 for an inside cabin for two people.”

The voyages will have no buffets, no dress code and no children.

“Children are one of life’s great joys, but on Virgin Voyages, we believe absence makes the heart grow fonder,” a company statement says.

“That’s why, despite the fact that our ships are a playground for your inner child, we’ve chosen to curate an adults-only cruise experience.”

Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison welcomed the new line to SA.

“Virgin Voyage’s Resilient Lady will bring up to 2770 passengers to Adelaide twice in December 2024 and to Penneshaw on New Year’s Day 2025, with onshore excursions helping showcase our state,” she said.

“The state government, through the South Australian Tourism Commission, is in constant discussions with all cruise lines to grow this valuable sector of our visitor economy and to have South Australia added to more cruise itineraries including Virgin Voyages.

“I have no doubt that passengers getting off the Virgin Voyages cruise in South Australia will love what they see, and will contribute to the strong demand we’ve seen in cruising in our state which is now worth a record $215m to our visitor economy.”

Virgin Voyages founder Sir Richard Branson greeted the Resilient Lady on arrival to Sydney Harbour yesterday in usual flamboyant style, taking an Italian wooden speedboat out towards the heads then climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge to see the liner dock at the Overseas Passenger Terminal as a Virgin Australia jet rumbled overhead.

“It is the most beautiful harbour in the world,” Sir Richard said. “It is absolutely and utterly stunning. I have never seen it with a Virgin Voyages ship coming in which is pretty magical.”

The 73-year-old billionaire, who flew in from Necker Island in the Caribbean where he lives with wife Joan, said he had no intention of slowing down or giving up creating companies.

“I don’t miss anything in life. But I have got lots of great memories,” he said. “I would be a sad person if I missed anything and I live on an island now which is quite nice.”

He said the ship will be based in Melbourne as Sydney “didn’t have the space.”
