‘Vigorous’ cold front to batter South Australia on Tuesday

SAY goodbye to the warm, sunny weather because a “vigorous” cold front is on the way. The Bureau of Meteorology have released a warning for much of the state, predicting damaging winds up to 100km/h.

SAY goodbye to the sunny weather because there is a cold front on the horizon.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for much of the state on Tuesday.

A vigorous cold front will make its way into South Australia overnight, pushing potentially damaging winds ahead of it.

North to north-westerly winds averaging between 50 and 70km/h are predicted along with wind gusts around 100km/h.

The cold front is expected to arrive in Ceduna by sunrise on Tuesday before making its way east.

The front will move east across state over Tuesday with the potential for damaging winds in the eastern and northern parts of the state later in the day.

The Adelaide metropolitan area is expected reach peak wind speed late morning and early afternoon.

A spokesman for the Bureau said these kinds of cold fronts are relatively common for Spring and they are not expecting Adelaide will be significantly affected.

The Bureau have issued a warning for people in the Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Kangaroo Island, Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East, Lower South East and parts of West Coast, North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral districts.

The weather warning comes after a bout of warm weather where the city basked in a sunny 23C day.

The cold front will drop the temperature on Wednesday and Thursday back into the mid-teens.
