Police are investigating after a local rugby league grand final turned into a brawl.
Video has emerged of an altercation between spectators and players breaking out at the end of the South Australian Rugby League grand final at Mitchell Park on Sunday afternoon.
Nine News reported that after the match, which the Western Districts Warriors won in extra time against the Eels, a scuffle broke out between players before members of the crowd became involved.
The video shows a large group of players spilling into the crowd as well as one player throwing several punches at an opponent.
The footage also shows several players pulling a member of the crowd away from one of their teammates.
Nine News reported that a 12-year-old boy had been left shaken after the violent incident where a man allegedly chased him with a raised fist and tried to punch him in the back of the head.
Neither club commented on the incident.
SA Police said it was called to the Mitchell Park Reserve on Bradley Gve around 4.30pm on Sunday but the altercation was over by the time officers arrived.
SA Police confirmed it is investigating the incident and asked anyone who was assaulted and hasn’t yet reported it or was a witness to the fight to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or attend at their local police station to make a report.
