The public is being asked for ideas to improve one of the state’s best loved tourist sights, the Bluff at Victor Harbor, as part of a “master plan” process.
Victor Harbor Council has asked locals to give their vision for the headland, also known as Rosetta Head or Kongkengguwarr.
The council is running a community survey and design workshops this month.
Mayor Moira Jenkins said it was an “amazing piece of land” with significant environmental, recreation, tourism, heritage and cultural value.
“My personal view is that we should keep it as natural as possible and that we should improve the walking paths so that it’s more accessible to people,” she said.
Dr Jenkins also said the adjacent Petrel Cove needed a toilet.
“I think we also need to look at what we can do to improve facilities near the old screwpile jetty,” she said.
After the first phase of community engagement, the council will draft a master plan and seek further feedback in July, wrapping up the process in time for the council elections in November.
