A 74-year-old man has been arrested after a head-on crash at Wirrina Cove on Sunday

Four people have been taken to hospital after two cars collided south of Adelaide. It is believed one of the cars was travelling on the wrong side of the road.

A 74-year-old Belgian man has been arrested and charged with aggravated driving without due care after a head-on crash on the weekend.

Four people have been injured in a two-car crash south of Adelaide.

Just before 10.30am, police were called to Main South Rd, at Wirrina Cove, after reports a Toyota SUV and Audi station wagon had collided.

It is believed one of the cars was travelling on the wrong side of the road.

Two people – a 73-year old Belgian woman and a 55-year-old man from Woodcroft – were flown from the scene.

Another two people – a 74-year-old Belgian man and a 46-year-old Dover Gardens man – were taken by road to Flinders Medical Centre. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening.

Main South Rd was closed for several hours while emergency services remained at the scene, but has now been reopened.

The road closure impacted traffic heading to and from the SeaLink Ferry terminal at Cape Jervis.

The 74-year-old Belgian man will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
