7 News: Port Wakefield road crash disrupts long weekend traffic

A TWO-car crash at Port Wakefield caused heavy traffic delays for long weekend travellers.

The smash happened at the intersection of Port Wakefield Rd and the Copper Coast Highway about 11.30am.

South-bound traffic was blocked while emergency service crews worked to clear the site.

Three children and two adults were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Traffic was banked up along the highway but has since started moving again after the damaged cars were removed from the road.

There are still residual delays.

The intersection of Port Wakefield Rd and the Copper Coast Highway notoriously becomes congested as holiday-makers head home after long weekends.
