Businesses at a northern suburbs shopping centre have continued to be plagued by violent incidents during late trading as a video surfaces online of a violent bashing.

Police have arrested and charged two teenage girls with aggravated assault after two videos showed a young girl being kicked, dragged and punched – while others watched on and cheered.

A staff member at an Elizabeth City Centre pub was one of the first to respond and assist security guards as more than 40 young people surrounded the victim.

“There was so many people, we just saw the aftermath and how much security was copping stuff from the kids so I stepped in,” the hospitality worker said.

“It was really bad … the kids should have been moved on straight away, not allowed to hand out.’

The 25-second clips were filmed outside the Elizabeth shopping centre during Thursday’s late-night shopping just after 6pm near the food court entrance and later posted to an anonymous Instagram page.

The page – with more than 1000 followers – is filled with similar videos of physical altercations between teenagers and children.

Many appear to be recorded in school environments.

The first video begins by showing the victim on her back while another girl drags her by the hair and rains punches down on her head.

The victim can be heard shouting “get off me” while at least eight other youths watch on, cheer and record the incident on their phones.

After it appears the attack has stopped, a girl sporting a green top and grey trackpants runs up and kicks the victim in the head as she tries to get back on her feet.

The second video continues from a different angle and unidentified individuals behind the camera can be heard cheering as the bashing becomes more vicious.

Finally, two members of centre security pull the attackers off the victim and begin dispersing the growing crowd.

A manager from Caffe Acqua – known as Ding – said the paved promenade was notorious for incidents.

“Kids hang around asking for trouble,” he said.

“Fair enough if they come for a movie or to shop, but not just to hang out and beat up a girl.”

Debbie, who works for Reading Cinema, said it was “not a shock” to hear that there was a fight outside the centre.

SA Police told The Advertiser patrols were called to Elizabeth Shopping Centre in relation to the incident about 6.45pm on Thursday.

Police found a teenage girl who had allegedly been assaulted and she was taken to hospital by ambulance where she is being treated.

A 13-year-old girl from Parafield Gardens and a 16-year-old girl from Brahma Lodge were arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
