Two teens arrested for spate of car thefts and breakins

A couple and their three young children slept as teenage boys allegedly rummaged through their house before stealing their two cars at Beaumont overnight.

Two boys were arrested overnight after allegedly stealing three cars during multiple break-ins.

Beaumont resident Inbar Shapira said she woke to her two-year-old son crying in the early hours of Monday morning, and came downstairs to find him a dummy.

“I noticed all of the drawers of the hallway desk were open,” Mrs Shapira said.

“I looked outside and noticed there were no cars.

“It’s a terrible feeling.”

She and her husband Yinon checked outside and confirmed a Volvo and Nissan had been taken, before noticing thieves had raided their home stealing two laptops, an iPad and Mrs Shapira’s handbag and wallet.

It is understood the thieves entered the home through a doggie door while the couple and their three children including two girls, aged 7 and 8, and a boy, aged two, slept.

An hour after the break-in, police noticed a stolen Subaru SUV was seen driving on Albert St at Mile End about 3am Monday.

When they tried to stop the vehicle it sped off onto Kintore St.
The car was being followed by a black Volvo station wagon, which had been stolen during the earlier Beaumont break-in.

The Subaru and Nissan which belongs to Mrs Shapira were located a short time later at nearby Victoria St at Mile End.

Two teenage boys were found in a hotel car park.

Two boys, 15, from Davoren Park and Smithfield, were arrested and charged with illegal use, serious criminal trespass and other offences.
They were bailed to face court in October.

Inquiries are continuing to locate the missing Volvo.

It comes after two teenage girls including one aged 12 were arrested after allegedly setting fire to a shopping centre kiosk at Elizabeth over the weekend.

The small fire broke out about 5.30pm Saturday at Elizabeth City Centre in a kiosk triggering the sprinkler system.

Fire crews and police rushed to the scene to contain the fire while centre staff helped to mop up the flooding and water damage to the centre.

There were no reported injuries.

Investigations led police to arresting two girls, aged 12 and 13, who are expected to be charged with arson.

It another incident north of Adelaide, two men were arrested after a fight involving an axe and a knife.

The alarm was raised just after 11.30pm Saturday on Perth St at Ferryden Park after reports of a fight between a group of people.

A Rosewater man, 23, suffered injuries to his arms after being hit by a man armed with a small axe, while another man was in possession of a knife.

The victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

After a search, the two suspects were located nearby including a Port Adelaide man, 22 and a Rosewater man, 19.

Both were charged with aggravated assault and affray and were bailed to appear in court at a later date.
