Two arrested over Australia-wide cannabis syndicate under Operation Ironside

Three more men have been arrested under Operation Ironside, two over a national marijuana syndicate.

Operation Ironside Phase 2

Two men who allegedly worked in a criminal syndicate cultivating and distributing large quantities of cannabis across Australia have been arrested by police under Operation Ironside.

On Monday, a 45-year-old Mitcham man was arrested in Adelaide and a 43-year-old Urrbrae was arrested at his home.

Both were charged with seven counts of cultivating and trafficking large commercial quantities of cannabis.

They also face pre-existing charges under Operation Ironside.

Two other members of the same syndicate are already in custody on other Ironside-related charges and will be further charged.

All four men will appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court in July.

The maximum penalty for the charges is $1m or life imprisonment or both.

The third arrest came after an alleged member of the Comanchero OMCG allegedly sourced precursor chemicals used to make methylamphetamine at an industrial drug lab.

Police raided the lab in August, 2020, in Morphett Vale.

Meanwhile, a 29-year-old Ascot Park man was arrested on Tuesday and charged with one count to take part in the manufacture of a large commercial quantity of methylamphetamine.

Nine other accused are already before the courts in connection with the laboratory.

The man was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The maximum penalty for this offence is $1m or imprisonment for life or both.
