A driver responsible for peak-hour mayhem near Adelaide Airport has allegedly tested positive for meth after crashing his truck and leaving hundreds of glass bottles strewn across a busy road.
The smash happened on South Rd near Richmond Rd about 6.30am on Thursday, when a truck swiped a tree branch and lost up to 2000 glass bottles on the busy thoroughfare.
It’s affecting traffic on Sir Donald Bradman Drive as well as South Rd.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene but the road remained restricted to traffic at 12pm Thursday.
The driver of the truck, a Victorian man, 63, took a roadside drug test and allegedly returned a positive result for meth.
He was reported for driving in a dangerous manner and a severe breach of insecure load.
He may face further charged pending the result of the forensic analysis of his drug sample which has been sent off for forensic testing.
The traffic chaos caused more pain for commuters en route to the airport, which saw extensive delays and flight cancellations on Wednesday.
