Truck crash at corner of Portrush Rd and Glen Osmond Rd blocks traffic

THE clean-up operation after a B-double truck rolled over on Portrush Rd near the base of the South-Eastern Freeway on Wednesday night will take until early Thursday morning and motorists are being urged to avoid the area.

THE clean-up operation after a B-double truck rolled over on Portrush Rd near the base of the South-Eastern Freeway on Wednesday night will take till 4am on Thursday and motorists are being urged to avoid the area till then.

The vehicle crashed at the intersection of Glen Osmond and Portrush Rd just before 9.15pm Wednesday.

Police and other emergency services attended the scene, and a reporter at the time said it appeared they were trying to extract the driver from the wreckage of the truck.

Fortunately, the truck driver sustained only minor injuries, police said later.

Traffic lights are down, and scrap metal and debris has been strewn across the road.

Portrush Rd is closed to all northbound traffic, with police advising motorists to avoid the area if possible.

Police advised tonight that the clean-up would take several hours and the road was not expected to be cleared until at least 4am on Thursday.
