A blaze that destroyed a house and damaged several others at Trinity Gardens overnight has taken fire fighters more than 12 hours to extinguish.
The blaze broke out at Ashbrook Ave, at about 8.30pm on Saturday. It caused extensive smoke in the eastern suburbs, and authorities issued a warning to residents advising them to stay indoors with their windows closed.

Nine trucks with 35 firefighters tackled the blaze, bringing it under control in 90 minutes. MFS acting commanding officer Simon Kirkmoe said when crews arrived the fire was threatening other properties.
“Quick action of crews managed to save and limit damages (to other properties),” Mr Kirkmoe said.
Crews remained at the scene into the late morning, monitoring hot spots.
A man who lives next door to the burning house, Andrew Berg, told 9 News he helped a female occupant of the burning house to safety by lifting her over the fence.
“I grabbed the ladder, ran around the back of my house and managed to get her attention through a bit of yelling and the light of a torch,” Mr Berg said.
A neighbour who lives around the corner said she could see the big flames from her yard.
The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, said she heard explosions for about two hours on Saturday night. “It’s pretty upsetting,” she said.
Another neighbour said the fire was like a fireworks show.
Norwood, Payneham and St Peters Mayor Robert Bria lives a few streets away and said he could see the flames from his house.
“It went up very, very quickly … and it’s obviously devastating for the owners and neighbours who have had their properties damaged,” he said.
Fire cause investigators say the blaze’s cause was accidental.
The fire caused $400,000 damage to the house, and a combined $100,000 to two other houses.
The couple who were home at the time of the house fire escaped without injury.
