The 14 people were among 284 people tested for drugs and 2089 people tested for alcohol on Monday. Two people were found driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police will allege a 37-year-old man from Kangaroo Island tested positive to methylamphetamine after he had just dropped off children to a school.

A Birkenhead man, 36, who was on his way to pick up a child from a western suburbs school on Monday afternoon, allegedly tested positive for methylamphetamine.

Police will alleged a 38-year-old woman from the South East tested positive to methylamphetamine after dropping off children at a Limestone Coast school.

Eight people were detected tested positive for methylamphetamine and three for cannabis but all 11 drivers were not associated with any schools.

It is alleged a 57-year-old woman from the State’s mid-north allegedly nearly three times over the limit, registering a blood alcohol level of 0.149.

A Paralowie man, 70, allegedly returned a blood alcohol level of 0.098.

Superintendent Anthony Fioravanti said the results showed some drivers were willing to risk children’s lives by drug driving.

“The drink and drug traffic campaign will continue this afternoon, so I urge drivers to do the right thing and not put themselves or children at risk by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” he said.

The five reported motorists were given a direction not to drive and are expected to face further penalties after the completion of forensic testing.

“Drivers and riders are also reminded that they can be stopped at random anytime day or night by a police officer and drug or breath tested.”
