Wild winds, storms across Greater Adelaide area bring flooding, power outages

MORE wild weather is still to come as emergency crews had a busy night responding to flash flooding and trees down across the state.

MORE wild weather is still to come, South Australians have been warned.

Emergency crews had a busy night responding to flash flooding in the Adelaide Hills and trees down across the state. And authorities remain on high alert. Between 3-10mm of rain has fallen in the Adelaide metro area in the last 24 hours while between 15-30mm fell in the Adelaide Hills. The wind and rain is expected to ease throughout the day before another front is predicted to hit the city later, a spokesperson from the Bureau of Meteorology said. There were 45 car accidents reported yesterday. “It’s not expected to be quite as bad as the one we had yesterday,” she said. By 10.30pm last night, the Country Fire Service had responded to more than 125 incidents including fallen trees and flooding. The State Emergency Service was called out to provide sandbags as water rose towards properties across the metropolitan area. Imagery from the SES shows the extent of rain across the Greater Adelaide area from 5pm to 6pm. The bureau cancelled the last weather warnings for SA late on Thursday night. Friday’s forecast is for up to 6mm of rainfall with 25- 35km/h winds. READ THE FULL WEATHER WRAP HERE
