HAYFEVER sufferers beware — this week is going to get up your nose. The pollen index in Adelaide will be “high” on Monday and Thursday, according to experts. This mean most allergy sufferers will experience hayfever symptoms including watery and itchy eyes, blocked nose and sneezing. SA Health warns hay fever can also exacerbate asthma. The National Asthma Council of Australia recommends hay fever sufferers use corticosteroid, antihistamine or decongestant nasal sprays or antihistamine or decongestant tablets to lessen symptoms. Tarsha Spender, 26, of Findon, said both her father Dominic, 53, and brother Leon, 31, are both lifelong sufferers of hayfever. “(Dad) just gets really red and watery eyes and a running nose and sneezing,” he said. “He hates it – it annoys him,” Adelaide is heading for a top of 21C on Monday with sunny conditions forecast.
