Even the strongest guys in Adelaide were anxious to try out some of this year’s thrilling Royal Adelaide Show rides.

The Advertiser and two Australian Ninja Warrior 2019 contestants took some rides for a test run on Thursday.

Strongman Alex Bigg, 32, a contestant for the past three years, said he was more nervous about strapping himself on to the Extreme Thriller ride than he was before going on this year’s Nine Network show.

Spins, turns and drops made the Extreme Thriller a must-ride for adrenaline lovers, and anyone looking for a good view of the show grounds.

But three minutes felt like an eternity for Nathan Ryles, 26, who said he swore the ride operators made the Extreme Thriller ride go higher than the teenage school kids who tested the ride shortly before us.

“I think I handled it really well,” he said after a few minutes after the ride finished.

“Nah it was a lot more scary than I thought it was going to be,” Mr Ryles said. And Mr Bigg thought Mr Ryles’ fearful reactions during the ride made for added entertainment.

“Sitting near Nathan made it more fun,” Mr Bigg said.

Over to a more wholesome experience: Georgia Gray, 4, loved the Cars4Kids ride – with nothing but smiles as she left the ride with her sister Taylah, 10 and friend, Sophie Irlam, 10.

The Ninja Warriors were yet to finish their thrill seeking experience as we headed over to try the new XScream Soundwave ride — something Mr Ryles decided to bow out graciously for fear he would bring up his lunch.

The spinning, crazy lights and loud music were too much for a younger passenger who forced an early stop to the ride.

“That was really disappointing,” Mr Bigg said at the end.

“I’m so glad I didn’t go on that,” Mr Ryles said.

Though fun, the new ride is not for the faint hearted, or those with sensitive stomachs.

Four rides will not appear at this year’s Show after failing strict safety codes.
