She’s likely to win the first seat for One Nation in SA’s parliament. But leader Pauline Hanson has remained tight-lipped on candidate Sarah Game.

One Nation is likely to win one of two remaining seats in the Legislative Council – but leader Pauline Hanson has remained tight-lipped on candidate Sarah Game.

Mystery surrounds Ms Game, who appears increasingly likely to win a seat in SA’s upper house despite not appearing in One Nation’s campaign material or even on the party’s own website.

Ms Hanson on Friday said she was yet to meet Ms Game, and called on media to “respect her privacy” until her position in parliament was confirmed.

“I haven’t met her, I haven’t met a lot of my candidates, I’ve got 151 standing,” Ms Hanson told ABC 891.

“At the moment, because of some personal reasons, I’ve got to respect her privacy.

“Sarah also has a position that she works. She’s a vet. Now, her workplace doesn’t particularly want the publicity and has had media cameras around there and she’s actually … been asked not to come into work because of it.

“Let’s make sure she’s got the seat first before it puts more pressure on her private life.”

Ms Hanson confirmed the “mother of three” was also the daughter of Jennifer Game, the woman who pushed to get the One Nation party registered again in South Australia last year.

“Jennifer will be standing in the federal election … she’s very articulate, she’s right across all the issues.”

Jennifer Game said her daughter was “very well-prepared for the job”.

“She knows what it’s like to make a living, earn your own living, have children, deal with all of the issues that come up in people’s lives,” she told ABC 891.

When asked if winning a seat in the upper house had been a long-held dream of her daughter’s, Ms Game said: “I wouldn’t say it’s a long-held dream, but I would say it is a dream.”

Sarah Game is poised to become one of five cross benchers who could decide what legislation proposed by the new Labor government becomes law.

If successful, she stands to be paid an annual minimum base salary of $169,162 plus an allowance of $2030 for being an independent.

Legislative Council politicians serve a term of eight years before they have to stand for re-election, with half of its 22 seats declared vacant each state election.

Attempts by The Advertiser to locate Ms Game for an interview have so far been unsuccessful.

There were no contact details on the Electoral Commission of SA official form for Legislative Council candidates, no social media accounts in her name on Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter, no profile or details on the One Nation website and no previous media interviews or photographs.

The final make up of the upper house will likely be known in another two to three weeks, once counting on preference votes has been completed.
