SA’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate fell from 5.5 per cent in September to 5.4 per cent in October, figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics show.
The national jobless rate was five per cent — down from 5.1 per cent.
Measured on a trend basis, an extra 2,000 jobs were created in SA.
The ABS said an additional 285,9000 Australians had found work over the past year, when measured on a trend basis.
“In monthly terms, trend employment increased by 25,400 persons between September and October 2018,’’ the bureau said.
“This represents an increase of 0.2 per cent, which was above the monthly average growth rate over the past 20 years of 0.16 per cent.’’
The Australian dollar spiked on the release of the data, climbing from 72.33 US cents to 72,75 US cents.
