South Australia’s new luckiest Lotto postcodes

The South Australian postcodes with the most division one lottery winners have been revealed. See where Aussies are winning big and how to grab a golden ticket.

What are Australia's lottery hot spots for 2020?

A convenience store that jointly sold the most winning division one lottery tickets could easily change its name from On The Run to On The Money.

The Salisbury store, along with the Plaza Newsagency in Westfield Tea Tree Plaza at Modbury, each sold two division one tickets, data obtained by News Corp on Australia’s luckiest postcodes has revealed. The nation’s luckiest Lotto hot spots and postcodes are revealed – including the suburbs in each state and territory where the most division one winning entries are sold.

The data, taken in a 12-month period until November 30 by The Lott and Lotterywest, covers all games including Powerball, Oz Lotto, Tattslotto, Set for Life and Lotto.

Victoria took out the top spot for the largest Lotto wins for the fifth year in a row.

In South Australia, five postcodes sold two division one winning entries – with 5000 for the Adelaide CBD selling the entries that scored the largest amount of prize money – more than $3.27m.

Other lucky postcodes include 5108 – Salisbury, which had two wins totalling $2.9m; 5118 - Gawler, which had two wins totalling $2.8m; 5112 – Elizabeth and Elizabeth South, which had two wins totalling $1.2m and 5092 – Modbury, which had two wins totalling $567,222.

The On The Run Salisbury convenience store and the Plaza Newsagency at Tea Tree Plaza each sold two division one winning entries.

The South Australian regions with the most division one winners include northern Adelaide with 13 wins totalling $11.8m, western Adelaide with 10 wins totalling $17.2m, southern Adelaide with seven wins totalling $8.9m and the Barossa, Light and Lower North had four wins totalling $8.6m.

The Lotto hot spots were revealed ahead of Saturday Lotto’s $30m Megadraw, held on January 2, 2021.

The Lott’s spokeswoman Bronwyn Spencer said 2020’s hot spots would soon have a chance to cement their reputations as a winning postcode or region. “It will be interesting to see if division one wins from this draw – the biggest Saturday Lotto draw of the year – fall in any of 2020’s hot spots,” she said.

“While lottery wins can land anywhere, from time to time, we see pockets of wins in the same region … emerge.

“This year we’ve seen a mix of hot spots, from bustling city centres to regional areas.”
