A South Australian man has shared dashcam footage of his near miss on a country road, nearly colliding head on with a car travelling at 110km/h.
Facebook user Jay Quinn posted the video dated Tuesday, January 7, which shows him coming within metres of a silver station wagon that is attempting to overtake a 16-wheeler truck.
It was taken on the Sturt Highway heading east to Annandale from Truro, according to Mr Quinn’s post.
He can be seen slowing down and swerving into the stop lane, the other car having barely gone halfway past the truck’s body.
Mr Quinn said the other driver “seemed totally oblivious to what she was doing” and it was “so lucky there was no one behind me”.
“So many seem to be in a hurry to see their grave … Problem is what about those of us that do not want to just yet,” he wrote.
“So, so lucky I was in the van and not my fully loaded 57.5 tonne truck – that is quite a drop off after the shoulder, I had the left wheels well over.”
The footage was reported to SA Police’s Traffic Watch portal and a SAPOL spokeswoman said it was investigating.
