Six teens arrested after stolen car crashed down Brighton rocks

Six teenagers who took a joy ride in a stolen car overnight have crashed down the esplanade rocks and on to the beach.

Six teenagers including one as young as 13 went on a joy ride in a stolen car which came to a crashing end down the esplanade rocks on Brighton Beach.

Patrols spotted the stolen car being drive north on Brighton Rd at Brighton just before 1am Thursday.

The silver Toyota Land Cruiser was observed turning on to Gladstone Rd and took off at speed.

The car was then seen coming to a stop at the gates at the western end of Gladstone Rd before the six occupants fled the car on foot.

The empty car rolled over the rocks and on to the beach.

Police with the Dog Operations Unit and STAR Group officers searched the area and arrested all six offenders nearby without incident.

All the boys, including three aged 15, one aged 14 and another aged 13 from the southern suburbs were charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle and breaching bail.

One of the 15-year-olds was refused bail to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on Thursday while the others were bailed to appear at a later date.

As the tide was rising, police drove the car from the beach, with checks revealing it had been stole from Hallet Cove that evening.
