Serious crash on Eyre Peninsula at Koongawa

A man is dead after a collision between a car and a motorbike on the Eyre Highway.

A motorcyclist has died after his bike collided with a car on the Eyre Peninsula on Monday morning.

Police and other emergency services received reports of a serious collision on the Eyre Highway at Koongawa, between Wudinna and Kimba, just before 9.30am.

A solo motorcyclist collided with a Dodge Ram, 20km east of Kyancutta near the Goyder’s Line monument.

The motorcyclist, a 78-year-old man from the ACT, died at the scene.

The three occupants of the vehicle, a Dodge Ram utility, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Major Crash Investigators will be going to the scene.

The Eyre Highway remains closed between Kimba and Kyancutta and diversions are in place at Kimba and Kyancutta to divert traffic via Cleve and Lock.

Delays are expected and motorists are asked to avoid the area.

The man’s death is the 52nd life lost on SA road’s this year.
