The young Port Augusta woman killed in a crash at Quorn has been identified as pharmacy intern and mother Qurat Ul Ain.
The 26-year-old, who went by Annie, was killed in a single car crash on Flinders Ranges Way on Thursday about 5.20pm.
Her husband, Arif Zaman, confirmed the tragic news in a Facebook post on Friday.
“My wife has passed away during a car accident,” Mr Zaman said.
Her longtime friend Nisha Malik, from Pakistan, also shared a tribute on social media.
“My childhood friend Qurat Ul Ain is no more with us,” Mr Malik said.
“Pls (please) pray for her maghfirah (forgiveness)...May Allah grant her highest rank in Janah.. and give Patience to her family, Amen.”
Her LinkedIn profile says she loved the outdoors.
“When I’m not on the job, I love exploring nature. Adventure is what I always look for and indulging myself with making new connections is my favourite hobby,” it says.
According to a December post on the Quorn Pharmacy – Aussie Discount Chemist Facebook page, she was originally from Pakistan and had worked in Dubai.
It said she had arrived in South Australia in June last year “along (with) her husband and young child”.
In an attached video in which she praised pharmacy owner Irfan Hashmi, she said: “I will soon be a registered pharmacist and working independently ...
“I was all set to start my career but then Covid-19 just reshaped our world.
“All my opportunities were shattered and my real struggle started when I had to search for jobs and jobs with a sponsorship, a sponsorship with a visa by means of which I could move to Australia and start working here.
“(From) the very first day (Mr Hashmi) was more of a mentor to me and he would guide me and tell me more of the Australian community and the pharmacy system.”
She said she had the opportunity to meet with Health Minister Chris Picton and Frome MP Penny Pratt at an event at Adelaide Oval.
In December, Mr Hashmi posted on LinkedIn that she was a “hardworking pharmacist” with “very good communications skill”.
“Punctual and organised person. Good listener and ready to act to complete the task,” he wrote.
Major Crash investigators visited the crash scene on Friday morning.
