An annoyed northern suburbs resident has taken matters into his own hands, teaching his neighbour a lesson after he alleged she failed to pick up after her dog.
The man not only caught the alleged perpetrator on camera but he had the dog’s poop returned, dropping the dog’s droppings back in the owner’s letterbox the next day.
Ashley Mckay explains he was sick of his neighbour allegedly not picking up after her dog whenever it relieved itself on the front lawn of his Evanston South home.
“I do take pride in the apperance of my house and the front of the house and whatnot,” Mr Mckay told The Advertiser.
“It’s just a little bit annoying when you get someone who just lets their dog do their business and they just walk off.
“Anyone who’s got any form of respect obviously doesn’t do that.”
Mr Mckay, who has a dog himself, found the address of the perpetrator after posting his security camera footage on a community Facebook page.
“People leaving dog turds at the front isn’t exactly what we want,” he told 10 News.
“I figured why not pick it up myself and hand deliver it to her and then she can dispose of it that way.
“Obviously I managed to scoop up what the dog had left behind from yesterday, put it in an envelope, and I have dropped it in the letterbox of the lady in question,” he said.
According to Mr Mckay, other neighbours have also had dog droppings left on their front lawns.
“So far everyone’s told me it's the right thing to do and if she doesn’t want to pick it up then that’s how it should be.
“Anyone who leaves a little gift behind for myself will receive a gift in turn from me,” Mr Mckay said.
If receiving a letter of dog poo in the mail isn’t enough to deter you from leaving your pet’s poo – not picking up after your dog can attract a fine of $210.
