Ms Richardson said South Australia Police were “investigating the source of the emails, which included threats”.

“We are working closely with them to ensure the safety of students, staff, and the school community,” the education director said.

“As a precaution, additional security measures have been put in place.

“Along with our regular lockdown and evacuation drills, visitor screening, and site security, you may also notice more security patrols and changes to traffic arrangements around the school.

An Education Department spokesperson said they were “aware of a series of emails of concern” sent to the principal, and are working alongside SA Police and the school to investigate the matter.

“This is an evolving situation, with the situation continuously evaluated and monitored with the safety of students and staff in mind,” the spokesman said.

The Education Department and the school urged parents to report “anything unusual near the school” to Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.

“We will continue following SAPOL’s advice and working closely with both the school and the police to resolve this situation.

SA Police said it was aware of the emails and were investigating the incident.

“Police are aware of a series of emails of concern, some of which contain threats, received by staff at an Adelaide high school and are conducting the appropriate investigations,” a spokesman said.
