DON’T try this at home.

But children will be able to fire up their passion for experiments at Australia’s biggest interactive science exhibition, Science Alive!, at the Adelaide Showground this weekend.

Presenter Natalia Dworniczek will guide children through a series of explosive discoveries on the main stage.

“I get a lot out of seeing kids light up and be amazed at what I’m showing them,” she said.

“I love inspiring people, so that’s my drive, inspiring kids to go on into science.”

Yolinda Rainho, 12 and her brother Tiago, 8, enjoyed a sneak preview yesterday.

“At home Tiago and I love making slime and the volcano that erupts, basically anything that really makes a mess,” Yolinda said.

“It’s really fun to conduct experiments and get a solution or answer to a question.”

The State Government will today announce extra funding for the ScienceAlive! Careers Day, raising the commitment to $45,000 over three years.

About 5500 students from 80 schools will attend today, but everyone is welcome on Saturday and Sunday.

Entry is free for under 18s and adults cost up to $20.
